Nursing School beginnings.

Can't believe I've been a nurse for +35 years. 😳 Things certainly have changed. I was surprised my Nursing School is still in business. Goodness..

Typical Night Nurse....

Love this picture....It reminds me of my 1st job right out of Nursing School. I was assigned to work with this (old as dirt) experienced nurse who would teach me how to be a Real Nurse. She would sit at the desk and (order) let me do all her work, pass out all her meds and tell me about the good old days while I counted all the IV bottles, needles and syringes. I really liked the modern dishwasher on the floor that washed all the metal bedpans, wash basins, kidney basins on a daily basis. We would load them in every night with just a touch of detergent and betadine... 2 hours later...all clean...ready to use again... Ah...those were the days.

No....they don't sleep all night..

Yes....it's true.....people do not sleep at night during their hospital stay. And according to my very scientific research over the years...the more "demented" they are...the less they sleep. I think after the sun goes down...they lay there just thinking and planning on how they are going to climb out of bed multiple times and cause havoc for their night nurse. I firmly believe in NO..liquids and sugar after 1800. It just gives them more fuel that lasts all night long. Maybe turkey and warm milk should be required every evening along with their nightly sleeping pill as their bedtime snack.
